BEWARE of fake tickets

We have had reports of fake tickets being sold by individuals using fake identities. Please be aware that such tickets do not in any way give entrance to the symposium. We stress that people should not buy tickets online, as it is both illegal and the tickets might well be fake. Fake and illegal tickets will not give you entry to the symposium.

No live stream of the symposium

In an attempt to make the symposium available to a larger audience, we have considered the possibility of making a live stream available online. In consultation with the lecturers we have decided not to make a live stream of the symposium available online in any way. Although this news is unfortunate, we hope for your understanding in the matter.

Tickets symposium PLANCKS sold out in no time

Donderdag 3 april ging om 20:00 de kaartverkoop van het openingssymposium van PLANCKS open. Op 23 mei zullen Stephen Hawking, Gerard ’t Hooft en Immanuel Bloch komen spreken om de eerste internationale wedstrijd voor natuurkunde te openen in het Beatrix Theater. Na enkele seconden werden bezoekers niet meer doorgestuurd naar het bestel- en betaalgedeelte van Ticketmaster.nl.

Eerder is getracht om de kaartverkoop te realiseren op zaterdag 29 maart. Toen is de servercapaciteit bezweken onder het overdonderende animo voor de ongeveer 500 tickets die voor het algemeen publiek beschikbaar zijn. Op donderdag waren binnen enkele momenten alle beschikbare tickets verkocht. Vermoedelijk was het aantal geïntereseeerden een veelvoud hiervan. De organisatie kreeg enkel op haar eigen website, waar de kaarten niet verkocht werden, al vele honderden bezoekers.

De organisatie betreurt het dat veel mensen geen kaart hebben kunnen verkrijgen. Vanwege het grote aantal belangstellenden wordt momenteel gekeken naar meer mogelijkheden om de lezingen voor een breder publiek toegankelijk te maken. De organisatie staat open voor suggesties en middelen om te helpen bij het faciliteren hiervan.

PLANCKS is een nieuw initiatief opgezet vanuit Studenten Physica in Nederland (SPIN) in samenwerking met een aantal partners waaronder Studievereniging A-Eskwadraat en de International Association of Physics Students (IAPS). Het symposium wordt mede mogelijk gemaakt door de Universiteit Utrecht en diverse partners welke te vinden zijn op de website www.plancks.info. For Dutch teams

For Dutch teams the PION competition will be the preliminary for PLANCKS. PION is open to both Bachelor and Master students. For more information see pion.vvtp.tudelft.nl

March 1 update

The preparations of PLANCKS are well underway. The subscription has closed and we are proud to say that 28 foreign teams will participate in the competition. After the Dutch physics competition PION, the preliminary to PLANCKS for Dutch students, another 7 teams will be added.

On the 23rd of May we will organize a symposium to open the very first edition of PLANCKS. There will be several speakers discussing different aspects of physics. The symposium will be headlined by none other than professor Stephen Hawking who will be talking about "The Universe as a Hologram".The opening will take place in Utrecht and will be open to non-contestants. More information on the symposium and ticket sale will follow soon.

Newsletter January

The PLANCKS organisation is working hard to organize an unforgettable competition weekend. We have come far with organizing since the last newsletter and are thankful for all positive reactions and international support.

We are very happy to announce that the opening lecture will be given by non other than Stephen Hawking.

There are subscriptions from Germany, Lithuania, Hungary and more and we are really looking forward to bringing all these physics students of different nationalities together. However, there are still lots of countries not represented. Spread the word to your fellow students that they may still enter.

The subscription deadline is the 15th of February 2014, to give people a chance to enter the competition and the lecture by Hawking.
